I was cleaning a part of my room to make space for my newly purchased laser engraver. I am now making my own metal business cards. (I'll probably write about that later since I like the story behind it). In cleaning my room I found an old gift bag that I received from my high school graduation. One of the things inside it was a piece of paper of what 6th grade me wrote for the graduating senior that day.
I had completely forgotten about this since it's been seven years since graduated at the time of writing. I'm sure during graduation I thought the same thing that I ma thinking right now.
Young was pretty smart.
I want to better immortalize what young me wrote, so what better place to do that than here.
The letter to myself
Don't be a slob! Do you still get A's? Always go the extra mile. Don't be afraid to fail. Keep trying or learn from your mistakes. Don't skip any school. Do you have a hobby? Keep on reading books there good for you. Are you still wanting to do engineering or astronomy? Don't mess up by drinking! Forgive but don't forget. Do your best and don't get stuck working in a job you don't enjoy. Remember being under stress means you care. DO NOT DO DRUGS! Always do your best. Find what your good at and do it. Inspiration can come from anywhere. Try to wrighte your own story. Do everything you think is wright.
My response to young me
I'm still a bit a of a slob, sorry. I got all A's except for the Calculas 3 final where I didn't study because I was trying to become rich by making a crypto trading bot. I was coding during classes when I should've been paying attention. I've learned that failure is a good thing, and I always try to learn from my mistakes. It's important to learn the right lesson from failures. I think my school attendance across my whole academia career was 99% attendance. My hobby is coding and tinkering. Yeah I failed at this one. I probably should read more books than I do now. I probably read half a book per year at this point. I ended up becoming a software engineer, that might be close enough. I rarely drink, and when I do its only socially and I'm it's always an amount where I can still legally drive. Agreed, it's important to remember to forgive, but not forget. I really have enjoyed my job for the last, almost, 4 years that I have been there. I have started enjoying it less recently though. It's probably close to time that I find something new or commit to business full time. That's a good reminder, stress means you care about the thing you are doing. Nope, no drugs. I always try to do my best, some days are better than others. I did find something that I am good at and I am doing it. Inspiration sure does come from anywhere. I know you mean to literally write a story in a book, but I am now writing my own story in life and through this blog. I have no violated my ethical morals, and I continue to do what I think is "wright"
